The Blanket Festival was really neat...the Eskimo people invited us in and Louise, an Eskimo lady we met , explained all that was going on. We had duck soup, caribou soup, Whale tongue whale liver, and intestine. We had a great visit in Barrow...but I was glad to leave the cold weather and get back to some warmer sunshine~ On the way to Bettles we stopped on this small air strip to take a break...and get fuel...I was asking the guy running the place about the Caribou...he told me that they had a Caribou and a Moose that hung around there quite often.
We went to the hanger and low an behold a Caribou inside the hanger! The batteries were out in the camera and I missed the shot! It was a funny sight...the man said the caribou was getting out of the sun and away from the mosquitos!
Bettles was sooo warm compared to Barrow...amazing! We had a great day...now we are back in
Fairbanks...Rain is on the way...we may be weathered in here tommorrow.
love ya
