Day 18, 19 June 19, 20

We left Fairbanks fairly early to our main destination "The most northern Town in North America" Which is Barrow, AK. But first we followed The Haul Road, the end of the road system in North America. It follows the Alaskan Pipeline to Deadhorse(Prudhoe Bay)AK. We stopped at Coldfoot AK for a visit with the family who run Coyote Air. Danielle, Darian, and Bremner. Thanks to them for all the fun and information they gave us!
It was beautiful all along the way! We got through the Antigun pass and there were no more trees for 150 miles but million upon millions of acres of Tundra(which sorta looks like the marshes of GA without the tall grass)and the Artic Ocean where the ice is beginning to break up. We saw Many Carabou along the way!

We arrived in Deadhorse and awaited our friends on the Harley's and waited and waited. The last motorcycle to arrive was at 2am. The Haul Road is not your typical road. It is part gravel, paved, dirt, mud, large rocks, small rocks and pot holes. These guys were on Harleys! Now four or five of them are on trailors with a series of ailments. But hey they did it!
We touched our toes in the Artic Ocean and left the last road in North America, for the last point in North America Barrow, AK.

We have arrived in Barrow and have been to the most Northern Point. Walked on the Ice, Saw the Whale jawbones, and Blubber! They are relocating the burial sites of the native people because the Shoreline along the Artic is eroding away!

An interesting note: Barrow is the seat of government for the North Slope Borough. The largest municipality (county) in the world covering 89,000 miles of artic territory and having a population of only 7500 people. Over half who live in Barrow.Mell is guessing about the size of Georgia(you guys can look it up)

We have slow internet here ...so I will send pictures later.
